VIDEO: Seahorse Hitches a Ride on a Pipefish

Back when the All Fish Emporium was around, it was my go to store for aquarium supplies. One day while I was checking out their new fish arrivals I saw this happening in their Seahorse tank:

You may not know this, but the Pipefish that the Seahorse is hitching a ride on in the video is a subfamily of the Seahorse and Sea Dragon (pictured below).

When we had our aquaculture facility we bred thousands of Seahorses. Each one had it’s own personality. They are definitely a fun, friendly species and as you can see from the video above, they can be a bit silly at times.

Nowadays Seahorses are commonly kept as pets. However, they do have specific care needs and they are having some trouble in the wild with their population numbers due to number of issues that their species is unfortunately facing at the moment. So if you are interested in keeping one as a pet, do your research and find a really good breeder. Keeping Seahorses is definitely a unique experience if you have the time and resources to do so.
